Top Europe Bucket List by Country

Europe has so many things to do, see and experience. If I tried to write down all the great things that could be added to a Europe bucket list, we’d be here for a really long time. so for the moment I have created a Top Europe Bucket List. This includes one top thing to see or do from each country in Europe. There are many other things that could be put as the top spot for each but this is just a guide.

Albania – Albanian Alps

Also known as the Accursed Mountains. In the western part of the Balkans it is the southernmost sub-range of the Dinaric Alps range.

Andorra – Andorra la Vella

The rustic capital of the Principality of Andorra.

Armenia – Khor Virab

Ancient Armenian monastery located in the Ararat Plain.

Austria – Schönbrunn Palace

One of Vienna’s most popular tourist attractions which used to be the summer residence of the Habsburg rulers.

Azerbaijan – Bibi-Heybat

This stunning mosque is a major monument of Islamic architecture in Azerbaijan.

Belarus – Mir Castle

16th Century castle and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Belgium – Grand Place of Brussels

The central square of Brussels, surrounded by Gothic architecture.

Bosnia and Herzegovina – Maglic Mountain

The highest summit of Bosnia and Herzegovina with stunning views from the top.

Bulgaria – St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

Czech Republic – Charles Bridge

Denmark – Nyhavn

Germany – Brandenburg Gate

Berlin neoclassical monument built on the orders of Prussian king Frederick William II.

Greece – Acropolis

An ancient citadel containing the remains of great architectural significance including the Parthenon.

Hungary – Buda Castle

The beautiful castle of the Hungarian Kings.

Iceland – Hvítserkur

A 15 m high basalt stack which like a dragon having a drinking.

Ireland – Cliffs of Moher

14 kilometres of sea cliff and a hot spot for wildlife.

Italy – Leaning Tower of Pisa

The freestanding bell tower, of Pisa Cathedral which is famous for its nearly four-degree lean.

Kazakhstan – Baiterek

Meaning “Tall Poplar Tree” and an observation tower in Astana.

Kosovo – Monastery Gračanica

A Serbian Orthodox monastery that was built by the Serbian king in 1321.

Latvia – Riga Old Town

A popular district full of medieval churches, art and history.

Liechtenstein – Vadus Castle

 Built on a hillside this palace is the official residence of the Prince of Liechtenstein.

Lithuania – Hill of Crosses

Moldova – Topova Monastery

Biggest Orthodox cave monastery in Moldova overlooking the Dnister River.

Monaco – Monte Carlo Casino

This magnificent casino is one of the main attractions in Monte Carlo and is a must see even if you don’t gamble.

Montenegro – Crno Jezero

Also known as Black Lake, this is the largest glacial lake of Durmitor National Park.

Netherlands – Keukenhof

One of the worlds largest flower gardens and also known as the Garden of Europe.

North Macedonia – Lake Ohrid

The deepest lake in the Balkans and at 3-5 million years old it’s also Europe’s oldest lake.

Norway – Trolltunga

A popular hike and rock formation that’s 1100 feet above sea level.

Poland – Wawel Royal Castle

An icon in Poland and home to three dynasties of Poland’s monarchs.

Portugal – Torre de Belem

This renaissance structure id the ceremonial gateway to Lisbon and officially known as the Tower of Saint Vincent.

Romania – Bran Castle

One of the most famous landmarks in Transylvania and closely linked to the myth of Count Dracula.

Russia – St. Basil’s Cathedral

One of the most iconic buildings in Moscow, this Orthodox church is located in Red Square.

San Marino – Occa Guaita

One of three towers built overlooking the city of San Marino, this one being the oldest.

Serbia – Đerdapska Klisura

Also known as Iron Gate, this gorge is located on the Danube river and is Europe’s longest and largest gorge.

Slovakia – Domica Cave and Styx River

The Domica cave holds the underground Styx river and is home to over 1500 bats which can be accessed by boat.

Slovenia – Predjama Castle

Built within a cave mouth is this impressive and extraordinary Renaissance castle.

Spain – Basilica of the Sagrada Familia

Located in Barcelona is this unfinished but still incredible church. This masterpiece is not expected to be finished until 2026.

Sweden – Vasa Museum

Home to the only (almost complete) 17th Century warship.

Switzerland – Matterhorn

One of Europe’s highest and most famous mountains standing at 4,478 metres high.
